No Harm
Holding her hand gently

He reminded her again

It was safe to let go

When preparing to begin

So much of the residue

Of her pain remained

And seeped away slowly

Leaving only it’s stain

Caressing her fragile fingers

He assured her each time

In trying to move ahead

Things must be left behind

This was new to her

But soon became evident

That his main concern

Was that she was content

One thing she had feared

Was that in due course

If she wasn’t vigilant now

She’d drown in her remorse

He never left her side

Tracing circles in her palm

Reassuring her repeatedly

That love meant her no harm
