Some Courage

Fear has always been
No more than a thief.
Replacing hope at times
With maybes, what ifs,
And impossibilities.

It has a slow way
To drag us down deep
Into its dark precipice.

Suspended in perils
Constantly delayed arrival.

It’s reach can extend
To overshadow the faith,
That even under all that,
Provides very good reasons
To always be brave.

But it’s only a distraction,
Testing and strengthening
The ability to focus
On directing more energy
To heart felt matters.

Fear is a petty robber
That can only take
The little it is allowed,
Giving us an opportunity
To exercise some courage.
